Carole S. Ben-Maimon, M.D
President & CEO

Prior to founding Alita Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Ben-Maimon was President & COO of Duramed Research, the proprietary products research and development subsidiary of Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Ben-Maimon joined Barr in 2001, and was responsible for recruiting industry leading talent and developing a pipeline of near and mid-term brand pharmaceutical products. During her tenure, Dr. Ben-Maimon was responsible for FDA approval and launch of the industry's first extended cycle oral contraceptive, and for the approval and launch of the second generation of extended cycle oral contraceptives.

Prior to joining Barr, Dr. Ben-Maimon was the Senior VP for Science & Public Policy for Teva Pharmaceuticals USA. During her seven-year tenure with Teva, she managed the development of more than 30 products. Prior to joining Teva, Dr. Ben-Maimon was with Wyeth Ayerst.

Dr. Ben-Maimon has extensive experience in drug development and commercialization. Her experience includes the leadership of multi-disciplinary teams supporting the development of drugs and biologics in many therapeutic categories including CNS, women's health, OTC-switch, urology, gastroenterology and vaccines.

From 2000 to 2003 Dr. Ben-Maimon served as Chairman of the Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA), and frequently advocated for industry issues in both the federal and state political arenas.

Dr. Ben-Maimon is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Thomas Jefferson Medical College and received her B.A. in biology from The University of Pennsylvania. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, and completed clinical and research training in Nephrology at Thomas Jefferson University. She is a published author of numerous scientific and clinical articles.
